On the record

“I sure love to write songs,” says Tom Krueger, the band’s lead singer and songwriter (see “ABOUT”), “but I finally had to put a moratorium on writing new songs until I made better use of the ones I had”. When it came time to find someone who could bring his songs to life, Krueger turned to producer and long time friend, Kai Welch.

Kai is a Nashville based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, who has worked with a wide range of artists including Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves, Grammy winner Abigail Washburn, guitar prodigy Molly Tuttle, and indie rocker Bobby Bare, Jr. to name but a few.

Elka Park’s debut album was recorded at The Goose Palace whose owner, Dan Knobler, was not only the engineer on the project, but played many of the guitars as well. Dan has produced and engineered albums for the likes of Lake Street Dive, Rodney Crowell, Erin Rae, Mipso, The Stray Birds, and more.

Also on the record is Owen Biddle, bassist extraordinaire, who has played extensively with The Roots, John Legend, Al Green, and so many others; Carl Broemel, guitarist for My Morning Jacket as well as his own solo work; Jamie Dick, drummer and percussionist for Rhiannon Giddens, The Milk Carton Kids, Abigail Washburn. Also drummer Dom Billett, who has played with the likes of Andrew Combs, Erin Rae, and Aaron Lee Tasjan. MEET ALL THE MUSICIANS BELOW
